History of Mountain Valley Ameraucanas

How it Started

We purchased our first Ameraucanas in the spring of 2015. In the years to follow we got serious about the breed and the direction we wanted to go in our breeding program. We purchased our original Wheaten and Black lines of chicks from long time breeder and ABC secretary Susan Mouw. We purchased some blue and black chicks from longtime breeder and ABC member Jeffery Vance in West Virginia. We give credit to life long ABC member Paul Smith for guidance, advice, and friendship. Paul is located about 3 hours from us and is a good friend. Our birds are not influenced by Paul’s genetics because of our close proximity to him. We wanted to offer another option to potential customers who already have Paul’s and other breeders genetics. We were also active in the first stage of trying to get the Splash variety approved. We enjoyed our time throughout that process when working with Paul, Lindsay Helton, Jean Ribbeck and many others in the Ameraucana Breeders Club. We continue to try to improve our flock as we try to keep moving forward. We provide opportunities for youth in our area who show through 4-H and have many youth across the US   who have or are currently showing our genetics.

Prior to October 15th 2023, our business was held primarily through our Mountain Valley Facebook page. My personal Facebook page was hacked and suspended which caused us to loose access to the MVA Facebook page. That in turn caused us to create a more secure option by launching this new webpage.

Thank you for your interest in MVA. We look forward to many more successful ventures.
